Writing resources

You can help children develop their writing skills at home by getting them to be a 'Sentence Doctor"! Give them unpunctuated sentences and see if they can make them better by adding the correct punctuation and correcting spelling. Some examples to get you started:

the shinee shells ar on the beech
wen can i hav sum lunsh
wot day is it todai
i wont to eet becos i am hungree

The Once Upon a Picture website is a fantastic prompt for independent writing. Each picture comes with a range of questions to get children thinking carefully about what they can see and gives them opportunities to use their imagination in writing. Some pictures are more suitable for older children, so please make sure you check them out first!
