Welcome to Ducklings Nursery

Welcome to the Ducklings Nursery webpage. We are a preschool that is part of Alverton School. We work closely with the Reception Classes and form the Early Years Foundation Stage at Alverton School.

We have a light and spacious nursery with a large enclosed woodland and easy access to the school playing field.

Sessions are led by Mrs Hanley, who is a qualified teacher, and Mrs Roberts, our experienced Nursery Nurse, who plan and deliver the curriculum.

Session Times:

Morning session: 8:45 – 11:45

Lunch: 11:45 – 12:30

Afternoon: 12:30 – 3:30.

Please check with a member of the School Office or Ducklings Nursery to find out which session times would be most suitable.

Cost: If your child is attending additional sessions outside of the Government funded sessions the following costs apply. We work as a sessional provision and costs are for 3 hour blocks costing £12.60.

If you would like your child to stay for lunch this is £3 and you will need to provide a packed lunch. Please note that we have a child with a severe peanut allergy and would ask that you do not supply your child with any products containing nuts, Thank You.

Changes of Clothing

It is our expectation that children joining our nursery are able to use the toilet independently but please do discuss your child’s individual needs with a member of staff. Of course, there are times when children may need assistance and staff are always on hand to help out. We do have some changes of clothing in case of accidents but you are welcome to send in spare clothes for “just in case”, as some children are very resistant to putting on unfamiliar clothes!

Open Mornings

Every term we host an open morning which gives you and your child a great opportunity to meet the members of staff working in Ducklings Nursery and to explore the indoor and outdoor environments. Please contact the school to find out when our next open morning will be!

Ducklings Newsletter

Each week we give out a newsletter updating you on the children’s learning and what they will be learning the following week. It is also a place where notices can be found and attached to the newsletter is an opportunity for you to share any ‘WOW moments’ you have had at home with your child.
