We are currently at the finishing stages of building a beautiful, woodland-themed library.

In the summer of 2015, we decided to renovate our old IT suite to create a new central library for our school. We aim to provide a warm and welcoming environment that will inspire, inform and transport all our children, from our youngest members to our most proficient readers.

Staff have worked during their holidays and at weekends to decorate the room and create the fantastic environment you see today. The project has been supported by the Friends of Alverton School who have provided soft furnishings and seating.

We are now seeking funding and donations in order to provide an even more exciting range of books that will engage children of all reading ages (3 to 12) and abilities.

These will not be curriculum books – we are looking for the best stories, the most beautiful poetry, and fascinating reference books; a collection that will make our children want to read, and to continue reading, throughout their time at Alverton and beyond.

"The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village."
