Tesco Bags of Help

We had some great news when we heard that we have been awarded £1000 from the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme.

We submitted an application to them some time ago but, due to COVID-19, Tesco temporarily needed to remove the voting system from their stores. Tesco colleagues have worked together to decide which three local projects supporting children and young people in their region should be awarded a grant of £1,000 and we are delighted that they have chosen us!

Our application was for funding to increase the opportunities for our pupils to have fun learning to cook healthy foods. Cooking is an important life skill and we try to incorporate it into the curriculum but a lack of equipment means that we are not able to do this as much as we would like. Our children frequently and enthusiastically ask to cook so now we will be much better equipped to enable them to do so!

Some of the cooking opportunities that happen across the school include Health and Wellbeing days, where the children make their own lunch, Baking Club, cooking from other cultures in RE lessons, running cafés as part of exhibitions and learning to make healthy snacks.

The official Bags of Help Winner Release information can be found on this page if you would like to read more about the scheme.

Thank you Tesco!
