The Lion King Jr 2017
Alverton Primary School was recently transformed into the Pridelands of Africa with two sell-out, truly fabulous and inspirational performances from their Key Stage 2 children as they performed the Disney show The Lion King Jr.
From singing in a variety of African languages to thinking about the ways that different animals move to making the savannah come to life, this production highlighted the fantastic team spirit, hard work and high expectations that are fundamental to Alverton School.
The school’s Drama Club spend the year preparing for, and rehearsing, their annual production and these children were incredible. They transformed themselves into all-singing, all-dancing lions, hyenas, giraffes and more, working hard to perfect their performances. Their enthusiasm, commitment – and talent – are much to celebrate.
The production also celebrated the creativity of the school’s staff. Many of them gave up an enormous amount of their time to design, paint and sew during evenings and weekends to make the children’s costumes and masks.
Martin Higgs, Headteacher, said: “The children and staff have all done an amazing job and have shown exactly what Alverton School is about, not only by producing a fantastic show but also by having the confidence to perform in this way. I am incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.”
If you were lucky enough to go to one of the performances, I am sure that you will agree that it was an unforgettable experience.
