Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)

Lower Key Stage 2 is made up of Years 3 and 4. We are in Trencrom, Lanyon and Kerris Classes.

Lower Key Stage 2 is the first stage of being a junior at Alverton School! We want to help the children grow in independence whilst with us and hope to do this by offering them lots of opportunities to develop and learn whilst having fun.

We will explore a different topic each term such as the Ancient Greeks or Disaster, allowing the children to link their ideas and learning in different subjects. Our classrooms reflect the topic we are currently studying and we like to make the most of our grounds and surrounding area.

Both Year 3 and 4 are given the opportunity to go away on a school residential in the Summer term. This is always a wonderful experience and something which the children greatly look forward to. As well as that, we prioritise sport and welcome in local coaches to help develop the children's talents.

In the classroom, there is a great emphasis on reading, writing and maths. The children are expected to learn all of their times tables and we hope to encourage them to develop a love of reading. Children will also be given chance to develop their artistic skills, musical talents and scientific knowledge with weekly lessons to develop the skills in these subjects areas.

We very much enjoy teaching the children within our care and strive to make their time with us a memorable one!
