Welcome to Key Stage 1 at Alverton School!
Infants at Alverton are taught in three classes:
Puffins (Year 1) - Miss Atkins (teacher), Miss Thomas (TA), Miss Angove (TA), Mrs Phillips (TA), Miss Richards (TA)
Owls (Year 1&2) - Mrs Clive (teacher), Miss Ching (TA)
Kingfishers (Year 2) - Mr Dawe (teacher), Mrs Oakes (TA)
The teachers of all three classes plan collaboratively together to ensure that the children across the key stage enjoy similar opportunities and challenges. We aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which children can thrive and flourish.
Learning in Key Stage 1 is themed around a rolling programme of termly topics with each curriculum subject area being taught discretely within each topic We retain a strong focus on the core curriculum of Reading, Writing and Maths as we believe these are the keys to 'unlocking' learning in Key Stage 2 and beyond.
