Puffins, Owls and Kingfishers (Years 1 and 2)

Monday 6th December 2021

Dear Puffins, Owls and Kingfishers,

Below you will find the home learning for all three Key Stage 1 classes - Puffins, Owls & Kingfishers - for the three day closure this week. There is an English and Maths activity for each day and please don't forget to read with an adult for 20 minutes! You can also choose an activity from the Christmas Fun Grid!   We hope you all enjoy doing these Christmasy activities and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Thursday.  We will now try to film our Nativity on that day so please keep practising your lines for the show too and make sure any last minute costumes are in then too. We will miss you all and look forward to seeing you back in school on Thursday!

If you need to contact a teacher, please use one of the following addresses:

Mrs Clive - owls@alverton.cornwall.sch.uk
Mr Dawe - kingfishers@alverton.cornwall.sch.uk

Best wishes,

The Key Stage 1 team - Mrs Hughes, Mrs Clive and Mr Dawe

English - Watch the advert 'Big Night' (click here) - You might want to watch it more than once!  Pretending that you were the 'Star' in the show, see if you can answer these questions by writing some sentences. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and to finish it with a full-stop. Use your best, neat handwriting to really impress us!

1. How did you feel as you were about to sing?
2. How did your mum help you?
3. How did you feel at the end of your song?
4. What did your mum say to you afterwards?

Watch the videos and complete the quiz and activities on 2D and 3D shapes. If you would like to, you could try to design a piece of Christmas wrapping paper using a repeating shape pattern!
